Its a great all-round subject especially if your not sure what you want to do next. It opens up your options you can learn lots of fun things and in some occasions go explore with field trips. I was worried when I picked my GCSEs about picking the wrong subject but I never regret for a second picking it and ended up going on to study Human geography at University. you can specialise down into a topic if you find something very interesting or keep it broad its very flexible – Good luck making your decision keep asking questions

I always tell people to take things that interest you – because being interested is key to enjoying the learning.
GCSE Geography is a great subject to get you thinking outside the box. People in the workplace often say you need to ‘critically think’ – that is to look at a problem in lots of differing ways, don’t just accept something, question it, get a deeper understanding.
Geography is a great way to develop that thinking – to get you thinking differently, and that will help you with everything you go on to do.

Great question, do what you love and what you’re most interested in!
I loved GCSE Geography and it set me up for where I am in my career today! I honestly believe that it is one of the most wide ranging subjects you can study, one minute you are learning about volcanoes and glaciers, the next you are looking at the impacts of consumption and globalisation. If you are someone who isn’t quite sure what they want to study at university (if you choose to go down that route) and which sector you would like to work in, I think geography is a great choice at GCSE because it does open up so many different areas.
My partner studied Earth and Environmental Science at university before going onto do a masters and PhD in Volcanology – he would have never known that these options existed if he hadn’t taken GCSE geography!

If you find it interesting and want to – then yes! If not, then pick something else. Passion is important 🙂

If Geography interests you and you compare it to other subjects in your options block then its the right subject for you. Geography at GCSE is a subject you will see on the television and all around you, whether it is hazards or geopolitics or climate change or population migration. The more you know about the world we live in the better you will be at understanding and making informed decisions.

Like the others said, if you are interested in it and enjoy it then you definitely should!
GCSEs are a tough time and you don’t want to make it any harder by picking subjects you don’t have an interest in!
Geography is a really good subject because it is so broad, with science, math, English and computer skills all involved. It equips you with a great understanding of the world around you, how it functions and how fragile it can be. Also with human geography, it teaches you about people and how they interact with the world around them.
All in all, geography covers a lot so gives you lots of skills, but it all comes down to whether you find it interesting. I think its really important to pick subjects based on what you enjoy, rather than what you think you should choose!
