In a week I typically work 37.5 hours (7.5 hours a day), however when on fieldwork this can be upwards of 50+ hours (12+ hours a day). So I don’t even know if id be able to give a proper answer of how many hours a year as its so varied!
I work a 37 hour week (7.4 hrs a day), this would work out at 1,924 hrs/year. However, with the bank holidays and annual leave, this figure would be less!!
I work 34hrs a week (over 4 days), and I have 31.5days annual leave a year – plus banks holidays and wkends. I’ll let you do the maths on that one 😀
It’s hard to count, because my job doesn’t really switch off — even outside formal hours I’m often thinking, reading, writing, or planning, so the work blends into everyday life rather than fitting neatly into a set number of hours.
I work 37 hours a week, I’ve no idea how that totals up over a year, but I get enough time off for holidays, etc. and my work time is flexible over the week so I can fit it around life which really helps.
7.4 hours per week, but I have 30 days holiday a year plus bank holidays. If i have a job that extends beyond the working day or I have to work on a Saturday and Sunday I can take extra time off
I have a contract to work 40 hours a week. We get 5 weeks of annual leave, plus a bunch of public holidays. It is also quite common for people in New Zealand to take unpaid leave – this year i’ll take about 10 weeks off work, so double my starting allowance.
In full time employment, it works out that you spend around 20% of your time (including the time you are asleep) at work – so finding something you love is key to happy life!
I work on average 37.5 hours a week (7.5 hours per day), which is 1,950 hours over the year. I have 30 days holiday, which is 225 hours, so in total that is 1,725 hours in the year – not including any time I may be off sick!
1,725 hours / 7.5 (hours in work day) = an eye watering 230 days in total, or 63% of the days in the year.
To go further, of the hours I am alive in a year (365 x 24 = 8,760), I am working for 19.7% of those (1725/8760)*100 – which doesn’t seem all that bad…
i have some weeks might work 40 – 50 hours and others only 20 hours. I dont have formal holidays and can’t really call in sick as am self employed but do have more control on how/when i work so might start at 6 am when the cat wakes me up for breakfast but then take time out in the day.

I’m dreading the maths on this one!
